◇ Introduction
Getting started
From a fresh account, you can have a topology on the canvas in under a minute.
1. Sign in
Kendall uses magic-link sign in. Open the sign-in page, enter your email, and click the link we send you. No password to remember, no MFA dance — the email link IS the credential.
2. Create a project
Land on /dashboard. Hit New projectin the header or sidebar. A blank design is created and you're taken straight to its 3D canvas at /design/{id}. The first project becomes a permanent row in your workspace — auto-saved every 800ms after any edit, no save button to forget.
3. Drop services onto the canvas
The left palette holds ~95 services across AWS, GCP, Azure, generic, and on-prem. Drag any service onto the canvas to place it. Use the search box at the top of the palette (or press ⌘ K / Ctrl K) to filter the catalog. Pin the ones you use often so they stay at the top.
4. Group services into a VPC
The Containers section in the palette holds the VPC primitive. Drop a VPC anywhere on the canvas — any service you drop inside its boundary becomes a child of that VPC and moves with it when the VPC is dragged. Delete a VPC and the children detach rather than getting deleted with it.
5. Inspect and lock
Click any service to open the right-side inspector. Edit the label, change the state preview, lock the node so it can't be dragged accidentally. Same panel works for VPCs (label, colour, dimensions, child count) and for annotations (text, image, area).
6. Run a simulation
Coming soon. The toolbar currently shows the design name and live save status; the Run button and results panel ship with the engine release. For now, treat Kendall as a high-quality architecture diagramming tool — simulations come next.
